Born and raised in the metropolitan area of Detroit, Michigan, it didn't take long before I realized that there just wasn't enough opportunity for a girl like me to become all I wanted to be. Every time someone would asked me, where do you want to be in twenty years I'd said "in a BIG city, with BIG sunglasses, a BIG over sized bag, making appointments from my blackberry." I want the BIG life alright, and I won't stop until I get it...all of it!
Growing up being the oldest of three hasn't been easy. You always have to "set the example" and be "the bigger person," as my mother would always say. So, what better way to be an example than to be the first from my family to even have an interest in going to college, but to also relocate three hundred miles away, find a job, and become "a responsible adult" right out of high school. It's a lot, but I manage.
I've always known there was a place for me in the fashion industry. From being in fashion shows as a child, to critiquing my family and friends on their outfit do's and don'ts. I soon decided to find out how I could make my hobby into a career...a BIG career. People always say "do what you love." So, through a little research, and a lot of college applications I found Columbia.
So far I am eager and excited about the curriculum, and the common interest I share with the other students. But,after I graduate guess we'll see just how BIG I'll be.
